I have a 632-1, 3" ported barrel. It is stainless steel. All I have with me right now is the Blue Book. My S&W book is at home. The BB only lists SS gun with black finish. This one does not have black over the stainless. The box label states 632 not 632-1. It is the correct box. Does anybody have any info handy on this gun?

Here is my limited knowledge of the 632-1 you are asking about. They made 3 different versions, black coated stainless, bead blasted stainless, and either brushed or polished stainless on the 3rd version.

The boxes for both of mine are the newer blue plastic box and are marked 632 on both(no dash notation)product code 178028 for the bead blasted stainless and 170329 for the black coated stainless.

If you plan on keeping it I'd stock up on ammo now. It's currently available but is the first time I've seen some on shelves for the last several years.

If you reload, Starline recently had 32 H&R brass in stock and priced reasonably. Historically that's some of the best and most reasonably priced. Even with the muzzle brake I wouldn't hot rod it but so much, but with reasonably loaded rounds with 100-115 gr bullets and a moderate charge of some powder like HP 38 or even Bullseye, they're a joy. I've shot a Model 631 (4" bbl, no brake) a fair amount and it's a real joy. I've never figured out why yours got the brake… musta been from somebody in the advertising brain trust.
Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do mine!

I also have a 632 just as the first two fellas described. Mine is one of the 178028 . I was thinking those revolvers were put by Sports South or something like that (grey-haired moment).I purchased my 632 Nov. 2011.
Those American Eagle 100 gr. will get your attention but the 85 gr. are much more pleasant to plink with.

I have two 170329 and 178045, one is black stainless and the other is polished stainless. Both boxes are marked 632 but the guns are marked 632-1. I also have 178046 which is the 2 1/8 barrel with night sights. This is a gun I carry frequently. All three are .327 magnum, but I load and carry with .32 long 100 grain hollow points. I was bit by the 32 bug many years ago.

IF there are three versions - I'm not sure. Here is the initial 'black' version as well as the Sports South model.

3 product codes for sure but just finish variations. Out of curiosity, what is the small hole at the edge of your frame to the right of the internal lock on your stainless version?

Not sure, but if you look closely it's on the dark version as well!

I was just looking at mine and it's where the internal lock pin fits into the frame. It's in all lock j frames not sure how I never noticed it before.

Having recently gotten to shoot a 632UC with 85 and 100 gr H&R Magnum loads, I bet that those are soft shooters with .32 Long.
