The grip on my 637 just doesn't feel like I've got good control of the gun. I searched and saw where people talk about the monogrip, Pachmyer and combat grip, which I believe is not being made anymore.
Which of these would actually give me a three fingered grip? Any other models I'm not aware of ? Thanks !!

1 2 3 4

5 6 7 8

1 Sile? from CDNN - cheap rubber trash, avoid like the plague, yuck

2 Sile from CDNN - cheap, so cheap the screw won't line up and neither will the wood on the grip frame, also way too thick for what it is

3 Sile from CDNN - cheap but kind of good, the fit isn't perfect but not bad for the cost. I like them but they are snappy under recoil

4 Factory J frame magnas, hard to beat the real deal original

5 S&W branded Hogue Bantam, one piece kind of sticky but comfortable and good fit but only two finger grip, open back

6 Hogue Monogrip, sticky like the all Hogue but adds comfort to shooting, minimal bulk for three finger grip, covers back of grip frame

7 Pachmayr Compac, different kind of sticky from Hogue but still tacky and might grab clothing, pinky rides bottom finger rest, wide soaks up recoil into rubber but kind of bulky with enclosed grip frame

8 Pachmayr Compac Professional, much smaller only two fingers but half of pinky rides at bottom round part, open back on grip frame, feels like a rubber magna with a rubber grip adapter almost

That is my contribution from the bucket o'grips. ;)

Try Ahrends Grips, Altamont Grips, and Badger Custom Grips. They all make good stuff.

Wow !! Thanks. Do you have a favorite to recommend from the group ?

The Pach Compac is the only way I can shoot magnum ammo in my 640 and not regret it one second later. But like I said, she is bulky and ruins the idea of a compact magnum. I didn't picture the UM in the group since that is what was on my 637. I took a three finger UM and cut and sanded the bottom for a better two finger grip. The original was just unneeded bulk in my hand at the bottom but you may like them. People sell them from time to time. If you find them and don't like them you can turn around and sell them and make your money right back.

Photoman - I custom ordered some of those cut to mimic the Hogue K Bantam stock. Are you liking yours? Mine haven't come in yet. I was going to put them on my 2.5 inch 19-4 and see how I like them.

I've also been using some of these Thailand jobs lately...

Photoman,

Have you had a chance to shoot the wood grips from Thailand yet? I ordered a pair and haven't gotten them yet. I'm interested in how they feel when you shoot them.

thanks,

Tiger

I've shot these and they work great. Not as comfortable shooting +P's as with UM combat grips but very close. This particular pair rates about 95% on the fit scale (much better than other Thailand grips I've bought). I have two more pair on the way.

p.s. They don't work with speedloaders.

I have. I was pleasantly surprised to find they work well with +P ammo. Not as recoil absorbing as the UM combat grips but that was to be expected.

These were what came with my brand spanking new 642. They have the S&W logo.

They are comfortable and my pinkie doesn't dangle.

Mike

These are the alligator cut grips made by the Altamont Grip Company for S&W. They are available in brown, black and green.
