The trigger lever falls out when I remove the trigger. It seems to free-float in a pocket inside the trigger when installed. Is this the way they are designed, or is it supposed to be locked sum-how in the pocket? Does this create a reliability issue?

Nope that's the way it is, just sort of sits in a little pocket compared to older trigger bars which were pinned. There are no reliability issues, the rebound slide always keeps pressure on it so there is no way it can fall out or such. You can loose it easily during disassembly like all small parts if not carefull.... ask how I know
