Would like to see this model come to life. Reloads would be fast and hard to miss. Shorten the cylinder ala 25-2 to keep the weight down. That should help the notches and window from peening open. Should help with a better double action pull also.
They already make an L frame SSR for IDPA. I believe this would be a better mouse trap for that sport.
Might have to try this with a Model 28 using 610 full moon clips.

Hi. Just a guess, but I would think the accuracy ( using 357 Sig with 610 moonclips in a Mod 28) would be very poor...

This is an interesting proposition. I am a huge fan of moonclip guns but NOT bottlenecked cartridges in revolvers. I don't know if it would behave better or worse than the tapered cartridges (like 9mm) in moonclips. Obviously the best way to do this would be to have a spare cylinder made from scratch for an L Frame or N Frame, but that would be very expensive. You could probably make it work in a Model 28 if you are very careful with the headspacing and cylinder throat dimensions.

A 646 in .357 SIG would not fit well into either IDPA or USPSA.

Since it would be a clip gun, it would have to go into IDPA ESR, not SSR, and compete with the Model 625 .45 ACP. ESR requires Major power cartridges (PF 165).

I have a 646 in .40 S&W, I no longer shoot it in IDPA because of the Major power requirement; the recoil in a 34 oz gun just slows down recovery too much..

A 646 is just fine for ICORE, which only requires a 120 power factor. I don't see any advantage in using .357 SIG for competition, although it would be legal.
