66-2 6" value

Due to death in family friend is selling 66-2, 6" barrel, unfired in commerative box. Weapon is stamped, "Southern Pacific Railroad Police" on right side of barrel. On right side above trigger is six point star of Southern Pacific Lines. It is a limited edition 025 of 262. Looks NIB

It's a friend whose dealing with financial problems related to a death in the family? It's worth as much as you can possibly give, in my opinion.
 
As has been mentioned, it is difficult to ascribe a value to most commemoratives (the Texas Ranger Model 19 being one exception).

Someone with an interest or connection to the railroad police agency might pay a premium, while others might feel the commemorative aspect detracts from the average value.

A standard production "new-in-the-box" Model 66-2 with a six-inch barrel should bring $600 to $800. That range likely applies to the gun you are asking about.
