Try finding a schematic on the newest -6 models. No matter where you go, cant be found. YOu can find a -5 which is similar but NO -6.
Also, certain things like the hand spring which some say you can just buy the one for the dash 5 and it will work, wont. The hand spring is different on the -6 and you cant find it to buy it anywhere.
There is also nothing on the S&W site. I guess you can buy a schematic from them either, liability??

Schematics are provided by some manufacturers to be used as a guide to locate part numbers and for guidance regarding basic assembly and disassembly. They are not always updated each time a revision is made in the design. Minor changes, upgrades of parts and so on, are usually reflected in changes and additions on the parts lists provided for the individual models.

In the case of the hand tortion spring for the 686, the latest parts list version I have calls for part number 22753 for the "MIM" models, available at Brownells, which I assume would include the 686-6. If they have changed this particular part, the change has not been made on the parts list I currently have.

If you are having problems finding parts, you can try contacting S&W Customer Service and speak with someone in the parts department. They should be able to provide you with the correct hand spring for your model, and answer questions about other revisions or changes in your -6, models versus previous or discontinued models. Have your model number and serial number available if you call for assistance.
