686-7 MG…Couldn’t take the Bear Hugs anymore

Jennifer posted a bunch of grips for sale on the Culina LLC facebook page yesterday, there weren't any K-round targets yet but there were some N-rounds for someone looking to dress up their new mountain gun.

Finally saw the new 686 MG at the gun store, they want full MSRP though. I asked to handle it to see if my initial observation on the grips 4 months ago at the NRA still holds true. It does. I find it comfortable and just right for my hand. The only thing I'm not sure is, when shooting full power .357 rounds, will the back of the trigger guard smack my knuckle of my middle finger.

While the factory grips fit my hand just fine, I'd have to agree they are ugly, and thin enough at the top to cause bloodshed to some of us using Magnum ammo. I don't know why they were so ballyhooed as being a desirable feature of the new MGs. I wonder if those grips were just marketing hype, thought up by some MBA marketing major who never shot a Mountain Gun with Magnum ammo? Sure seems to be plenty of new owners, me included, changing to another type of grip for one reason or another;)

The Hogue Mono Grip works out well for me. No finger grooves. Round butt Herretts pretty good also. 686-6 Pro Series. Bob

I hate the bearhug grips. I'm going to replace mine with eagle heritage grips. Anyone have any experience with them?
