I was cleaning my wifes 686+ and I removed the cyl to clean it and after I cleaned and oiled and re assembled the gun I found that the cyl was hard to close. After I got it closed it would not open unless I rapped it with my free hand. The gun is about 2 years old and has always shot mid to low reloaded 158 Grain swc. I would say between 1 and 2 Thousand rounds have been fired.
Any things to check before I send it back to S&W.
Thanks Steve

Welcome to the forum....

If you did not fully disassemble the cylinder assembly, the problem could just be some debris left inside by your cleaning. Try thoroughly flushing out the yoke cavity in the cylinder, the yoke itself, and closely double checking under the extractor for debris.....just to make sure nothing was left behind that is tying up the cylinder.

It doesn't take much to cause problems with opening and closing, and hamper cylinder rotation.

You either have gotten the 2 bottom side plate screws mixed up or you over tighten them. Switch the screws and see if that fixes it.
