Thinking about trading my 686-6 plus 4 inch for a 629 -8 6 inch I already own a 29-2 6 inch barrel. Any opinions would be appreciated thanks in advance

I really really like my 629 v-comp 4". I shoot it more accurately than my 686 4" and it carries well to boot. Recoil is noticeable but easier on my wrist than a .40, .38 Super, .45 ACP

I like my 629-6 classic and 625-2 both in 5". I like the balance with the 5" barrel and full lug. Haven't had a chance to shoot the 629 yet (just a bit of dry firing) but have put a few hundred rounds (.45 ACP) through the 625.

Unless hunting is part of the plan I like the 357. My 629-5 is the most accurate 44 revolver I have owned but I shoot far and away more 357s than 44 MAG by a wide margin. But if your shooting passion is big bore revolvers hard to go wrong with a 629.

Both guns are desirable, and would make more sense to have them both.
But if money is already the issue, stick with the 686, becouse the ammo cost will double going to the 629

.44 magnum is easier on your wrist than .40, .38 super, and .45acp!?

... Now I've heard it all.

The autos tend to rock my wrist with a pain that just about puts me on my knees - not every shot mind you but enough to worry me about Murphy stepping in at the wrong time. The revolvers, though they kick harder, push my entire arm and do not rock my wrist. Grip design??? I don't know and it baffles me as I have shot and carried autos for over 50 years (the .40 is the worst in the recoil department) now I have to re-learn everything revolver especially the reloads and there is simply no comparison to any auto. A 9mm is still doable, but there is just something about a bullet that begins with a mid-range 4
