696 - Built for Business

Great revolver! I have my 396 Night Guard setup in a very similar fashion. The only problem is I bought it new and never expected the Night Guards to be worth so much so I am hesitant to shoot or carry it very much. An SD round you might like for it is the Hornady 165 gr. FTX #90700.

Recently I realized that my 396NG has been hanging out in the safe for too long so I've been doing some chrono testing the last few weeks, mainly with HDY 200gr XTPs.

I'm pretty sure ;) I can't take it with me when I go so I'm having some fun with it now.

Power Pistol showed again that it's not position sensitive with small charges in a large case. Blue Dot not so much. :p

I put a S&W .146" adjustable rear sight on it & I'm working on a good front sight's height that will work with my handloads and keep the rear in the middle of it's range.

It had tight throats, like I believe most of the x96s have, which I reamed with a Manson reamer. Didn't like the idea of shoving a .430" jacketed bullet down a .428" throat. ;)
