70 year old veteran recalled to duty

Go Doc! He's an ispiration to all who can see past all the fake heros projected by mainstream media.

They said he runs 4 to 6 miles a day and works out an hour and a half every day. His wife said he was an "animal". I wonder if she was referring to the running or what?

Could be the "or what". She is a very attractive young lady who appears to be some 25 to 30 years younger than the Doc. My hat is off to him. I am only 66, a mere kid, I would like to get recalled but have been out 37 years and no longer have any uniforms.

God bless him!

I actually have my uniform and boots right here hanging in my office. I can be suited up and out the door in 5 minutes.

Since they retired me two years ago (mandatory for age 60), it ain't likely that anybody will be calling, but by God, I'm ready if they do!

Long-Time Out

I envy the old doc's mission. They kicked me out 60 years ago, an infantry buck-ass sergeant they didn't feel like trusting the Korean War to, I guess. In spite of my bailing out ol' Doug every time he got into a hard situation running Japan. I do have a recurring dream--not good, not bad. At 81 years old now, I con them into calling me back up as long as they give me a rocker to go with my hard(ly) earned stripes. Sent me back through basic training, but every day something else came up they needed me for and the dream never did let me know how I'd have done.

I do know this: I'd have needed a personal golf cart or equivalent to get around on the battlefield and probably a batman to schlep my gear whenever I was on foot. It was really nice, though, to be a first 3 grader and not always have to go to the EM club which was a heck of a lot better anyhow. And cheaper, with those 5-cent shots.

I salute him but it's pretty friggin sad that a 70 yr old man has to deploy to Iraq when there are thousand's of physicians that could do it.

Then again maybe he wants to go.

Who knows.

I know if I were on the table I'd trust him. What choice would I have.
