7xscope with a red top on top

Is this silly or do people mount a red dot on top ofa 7xscope my concern is that i like long shots but like quick aquisition on short shot range.....any ideas are welcome I'm shooting an m&p 15-22 with red dot scope

Yes they do.
Try Red Dot not Red Top. Should help!
