8J SN on your model 36

Here's a photo of my model 36..SN 8J66xx.. I think this sequence was only used for 1968,prior to the J series..I wonder if anyone out there has a 36 in this series and year..let's see a photo and your SN to compare...

I have a 6J Model 36 that left the Factory in May 1971. I can only assume that yours left later than mine.

Mine is a little mixed up.

woftrax, it can't be 1968, back then there were no letters in the serial numbers. How many digits after the 8J? Let us know, but I suspect your gun is from the "floating J " period of 1971-1972.

The SN is 8J6690...I thought I read in my 2008 catalog that the 8J was 1968,but I can't find it now...may have dreamed it..Be glad to pin it down if you can..thanx

Here's a 9J28XX (Floating J) No Dash with a BOD between 1971-1973.

The floating "J" confuses me so I asked some of the forum members for assistance and they kindly narrowed it down.

Hope this helps a little.

woftrax, I just looked it up in the database and serial numbers very close to yours puts it at 1971 which is what I suspected. HTH
