I am going shopping today to replace the XD that I sold a while back to a friend and have narrowed my choices down to a 908S or M&P 9 compact. While exploring the Midway website looking for prices and options for the 908s, like metal sights, mag catch and guide rod, plus magazine prices, I stumbled on some fancy wood grips for the 908 and 3913. Are these OK? I thought the late metal frame S&W autos used the grips as a seat for the mainspring? Or am I all wet? I haven't handled a S&W auto since the 70's when my OJT trainer owned a model 39. I love wood grips, but not if the strength is needed for function.

I bought a set for my SW 4040 and had them
engraved. They look great. I would go with
the MP 9c. Shoots great, many accessories
out there for MP's now. Good luck

Thanks for the info. I was all primed to go buy a 908 or 908s, got to the shop and they did not have a single alloy frame S&W except for a couple of full size trade ins. So, being the resourcefull, adaptable guy I am I wandered about a bit and found a nice Springfield Lightweight Champion which is sitting on the dining room table right now. Even better one of our local LEOs was working so I got to buy it from someone I know and like. I hope they get a commission.

I wanted an alloy frame, single stack auto for CCH. This one is just a little bigger is all.
