The other recent thread on Handcuffs suddenly made me curious about what was on my belt.

I knew they were " Airweights " . Issued to me in 1994 , probably purchased circa 1976 , s/no 440XX .

I *think* they are polished Alloy . If they were Nickle, would they look similar to nickle handguns of the same era ?

FWIW , my " backup " cuffs are M300P , purchased by me circa late '90s .

Biggfoot44,
Here are photos of the Aluminum Airweights M-925 Nickel Finish &
M-926 Polished Finish. I hope this helps.

Well I've been remiss in keeping my gear sparkley , and will need to give them a good cleaning and polishing .

In the right hand photo with them out of the boxes, the top pair seem closer , which are they ?

The M-925 Nickel Finish is on top
The M-926 Polished Finish is on bottom

Biggfoot44,
The M-925 are less common to find, in that they were discontinued in 1967-68. I have a 1966 brochure where they are listed, but in my 1968 brochure the M-925 was removed. I don't have a 1967 brochure to check. The M-926 continued until 1979 when they introduced their new line of cuffs manufactured in Houlton. ME.

Huh.
I'll definately have to clean them up . I know the earliest they could have been aquired was 1975 . Perhaps they were NOS at a distributor, and they made a deal to move them out . I do know they have been riding on belts continously since the startup of the agency . I do know that initially was a mix of Airweight and steel, mostly steel.

And yes, they moved forewards to issuing hinged circa 2000 , but the legacy wasn't categorically recalled . I just happen to have lots of seniority . And my other pair are personal hinged, so that I have options .
