Dog229 Here,
Looking to get into something to compete at with my 986 and was wanting opinions on the steel challenge events. Would i have any problems using it and finding how close to southern indiana are the matches or clubs i could call to find out about.
thanks

USPSA owns STEEL CHALLENGE go to their web site, click steel challenge and then click find matches or find clubs. It should let you know what is available in your area.

You may have to do a little more research than that. USPSA will only show you sanctioned clubs. There are many more clubs that run steel challenge matches that are not sanctioned and usually easy to get into. You may have to do some asking around and plow through some local club websites. Most clubs are not marketing geniuses and do a poor job of getting the word out sometime.

986 will work fine. easier to hit the 1st shoot then have fast misses.

good luck

Purchased my 986 just for Steel Challenge.
Cannot think of a better revolver for this game.
Its light and quick, that titanium cylinder makes all the difference.
I shoot the Bayou 135 coated bullet at 865 FPS.
the 2 extra shots come in pretty handy from time to time, too.

That's why I bought my 986. Great gun for steel. I will be adding a green fiber optic front site soon. Great fun shooting steel. Check out local clubs as they may have their own shoots. Google local rod and gun clubs, should get you started.....
