I'm quite sure that this must be a great ammo, seeing that LE uses it in their service weapons. Does anyone know if the FBI uses it as well?
When I was looking to buy a personal defense round for my newly acquired Taurus 66 4", I chose HYDA-SHOCK over the HST. I now wish I had chose the HST. But, in time I'm sure I will be buying some HST.
Opinions on the HST ammo, please? Thank You!

BTW, can anyone please explain to me how to post the actual video instead of the video link? Thank You!

Hst is one of the best if not the best choice in 9mm, 40, and 45. 380 not so much. 38 special is yet to be seen but I bet it will be insufficient like the 380

Personally if you have a 9mm go with the 147 as it expands wider and penetrates as far

Concur: Federal HST JHP are excellent defense rounds. I favor 124 grain 9mm as it's comfortable to shoot. I also use Gold Dot 124 grain & a variety of Hornady Critical Duty/Defense FTX rounds. HST costs considerably less with similar performance as the more expensive loads.

I still like Federal Hydra-Shock but believe HST has largely replaced it. HST cycles 100% reliably through my 9mm pistols and carbine.

I use the 124 gr "standard pressure" HST in my 6906. Doesn't beat up the gun and still runs 100 fps faster then +P 38 spl. I trust it although I haven't used it in an actual gunfight, hope to keep it that way. Joe

124 and 147 HST in the 9mm works............

115 and 124gr G Dot in all speeds work in a 9mm over 3".
A 3" 9mm needs the short barrel ammo.

Now for those that don't want to spend a lot of money......
there is the Rem or Federal 115gr that will work for a standard loading.

I like the 147gr HST, and keep my Beretta 92FS loaded with it.

IIRC, the FBI is using the Speer 147gr G2 GDHP. Is it still called Gold Dot, or is it just called G2?

Don't want to spend a lot of money? HSt is available for $17.50/50 quite often from bonefroggunclub

You're right. When I retired in June, the FBI issue 9mm was the 147 grain Gold Dot.

According to 9mm Gold Dot G2 testing, it needs a service length barrel of 4in, preferably 6in to expand. On shorter barrels it doesn't perform well.
