I am usually an auto guy, but I am interested in looking at 9mm revolvers. I know they have been made in the past can someone give me a rundown on the revolver models that were or are made in 9mm in a short barrel, or "snubbie" I think they are called? Smith or not, either way I would like to look.

Thanks

The best, in my opinion. No moonclips required. Here's a 3" Round Butt with Hogue Bantams:

Don't forget out the Ruger Speed six in 2 3/4 " barrel in both Blue and Stainless.

The Ruger Speed Six also requires moon clips. I have one in Blue and it is a nice gun. Would like to have a 547

Not to hijack this thread, but do you have any idea what something like that is worth, in decent shape?

I have a track, somewhat out of date, on 547 3-in RB represented as 95% or better:

Smith & Wesson 547 3" RB Revolver in 9 mm. Bluebook of Gun Values (28 th Ed.) indicates between $265 in 98% condition and $295 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 37 recorded prices using local and internet sources for this gun from $500 to $999 over a period of 1433 days ending March 29, 2007. The Average Price at that date was $745 and rising.

I'd also love to have a 3" RB 547 someday..

Thought I'd Bump This Old Thread To The Top

While I would love to have a couple of 547s for playing around with, I have no other use for a 9mm revolver.

Remember that 9mm ammo is cheaper than 38 or 357 & that counts a bunch at the range nowdays..
Another + for the 547 & 940..
BTW the accuracy of either of my 9mm revolvers rivals that of any non PC revolver that I've ever shot..
Thanks For Your Oppinion JellyBean
Gary

I understand about the cheap ammo Headknocker, but since I load everything I shoot that doesn't matter. I'd rather have a .38 or .357 and put all that cylinder space to use. Buy the way, I feel the same way about the .45ACP. Just my opinions, not trying to force them on anyone.

The 547s are a neat concept though, I don't know why Charter Arms would have a tough time figuring out how to get around moon clips.

My SP-101 3 inch in 9mm is a great gun for cheap centerfire practice. I bought 3,000 rds of non corrosive IMI surplus 9mm when it was a dime a pop...then 2,000 rds of Federal American Eagle fmj at 17 cents delivered. When the mood to plink hits me, I sometime dig into my little stash of 9mm and head to the range with the SP-101. At today's cost of ammo, I'm not sure I would go the same route...but since I put a little away before ammo prices went crazy, I enjoy practice with my 9mm..... revolver.

I had both a 2-1/4" & 3-1/16" Ruger SP101 9mms & like a fool sold/traded them both..Shame Shame
Well I still have the TK Moon Clips & they work great in the 940 for what it's worth..
And Jellybean that's the great thing about these forums, the opinions of others, It Help alot of People out..
Thanks & Enjoy!!
Gary
