9mm revolver

9mm

They made two. The 547 is a blued fixed sight k-frame that uses some fancy berillium springs and two firing pins. The 940 is a centennial stainless that uses moonclips.

I own both, and paid quite a premium for these no longer sold models. The main issue is that 9mm is a rimless cartridge with a tapered sidewall. To keep it in place requires some engineering most revolvers dont require.

I love both my 940 and 547. They are rare though, so if you see one -- buy it.

Check in this section - S&W Revolvers: 1980 to the Present .
Lots of threads and info in there about 9mm revolvers.

Darn nice looking revolvers there. I too am unfamiliar with these pieces, but they sure do have a great look to them.

Will either or both handle +P loads?

Welcome to the forum. I have a S&W 637 converted to 9mm moonclips by TK Custom. A number of other members have J-frame conversions including WC145 and Headknocker.

Welcome from North Carolina. Think you have already been given the info of where to look - good luck.

S&W Made the Model 547 in 3" Round Butt & 4" Square Butt
The Model 940s were available in 2" & 3" Round butts as well the PC940 that was chambered for the .356TSW round could also shoot 9mm Para..
Here's a Pic of a Pair of 940s & a 547.
NOTE: That the 2nd 940 has left the nest but now have a Airweight 642 that's had a 940-1s cylinder fit to it..
