I have reloaded many different rifle rounds and now I decided to start reloading 9mm. I am using it in my M&P9 for 3 gun and would also to use it in my Shield for plinking. The powder is Unique since that is all I can find and I have Berry's 115 FMJ.

CCI Small Pistol Primers
Berry's 115 gr FMJ
5.1 grains of Unique
.754 case length
1.155 OAL

I am just looking for a decent shooting, safe load that I don't have to mess with. I no longer have a chrono and really don't want to complicate reloading, that's what burned me out on it before.

I appreciate any help from you more experienced 9mm reloaders!

Thanks in advance

With the company that I got my 115gr plated from stated the "Minimum" OAL was 1.12" but 1.142" OAL is the NATO length if you need more case room.
With the short bullet anything longer may not have good case support. 1.16" + will work with the 124gr FMJ design, ok.

At 1.12" OAL the bullet sits just level with 5.2grs of Unique and that 5.1 is a nice light starting target load. With this oal I have loaded 5.5grs of Unique and it was at a factory loading in the Auto that was used..........5.3grs was starting to be compressed with the bullet.
If you try the maximum loads you might want to use the 1.142" oal length to help reduce the load pressures.

Stay safe.

That's just the great info I was looking for, thanks so much guys! OAL between 1.13 and 1.142 seems to be it.

Glad to help,If you have loaded other semi auto rounds you will be fine.I stick to the 124gr 9mm's now,Just personal preference.

At least in my 9s, 5.8g Unique is a factory duplication load (1160 fps) with the 115 gr RN Berry. Don't know the OAL off the top of my head.

Unique doesn't like light loads and you will see wide velocity variations. Some powder compression is common in the 9mm and doesn't hurt anything-so long as you're sticking to published load data and OALs. I've gone heavier with conventional JHPs to produce the same velocities due to greater bore friction.
