I just picked up this 1917.

Heavily buffed and the plated but the price was right for a rescue.

Serial # 1087xx dates to September of 1918.

Pretty obvious why it was buffed and plated. The chambers show light pitting and the bore has same in the groves.

The plating is excellent with on a mall flake gone under the muzzle.

Most of the markings are buffed away but the numbers match and the lock-up is good with the timing a bit early.

What can I say, the price was right.

Acrobat, I have a 2nd model 44 HE with a 5" barrel that I found in a pawn shop a couple of years back in Houston that was nickle plated later in life and has a few flakes. Mechanically it's in good shape and makes a great shooter. One thing about a beater/shooter like these is that you can shoot them without having to worry about putting a few dingers on them. Enjoy it.

Neat '17! I've got one similar, but its been cut to 3.25". I got to take a photo...
