S&W now has the .380 Bodyguard, fighting for the Kel-tec market share:
BODYGUARD 380 - Smith & Wesson

Now I would like them to produce one with a nice flat form factor, but about another inch in the grip and another inch in the barrel length. This would give them a pistol in the Walther P-22 size, but slimmer. The PK-380 is too chunky for my taste, given the small caliber and lack of a double stack magazine.

Who remembers the .380 Browning, but prefers a locked breech.

My current BUG is an LCP with a Crimson Trace LaserGuard. I'm sufficiently impressed with the S&W Bodyguard 380 to get one for evaluation. I like the real sights and the slide lock back on last round. I'm indifferent to the external safety. I'm a little concerned by the extra step in activating the laser over the automatic activation of the LaserGuard.

The street price of the Bodyguard compares favorably with the street price of the LCP and Crimson Trace combination. I never underestimate the marketing prowess of S&W.

The Bodyguard was originally scheduled to be available in May. Now it seems more likely in July or August.

I agree. I loved my .380 govt. model as it was slim yet had more grip and barrel length. It would make it easier to shoot fast, easier to hit and give a little more velocity.
