I remember being in a similar situation as a teenager. It was shortly after the new "L" frame Smith & Wesson revolvers hit the market and I was reading a review in Guns & Ammo thinking about how much I really wanted one but being that I was probably 13 at the time, it was just a dream. Shortly after I was 21 I was walking through a local gun show and there it was .... a 4" 686. $250.00 later and it was mine. 20 years later more guns than I can remember have come and gone in my collection but one has remained constant through it all ... the 686.
I still have it and shoot it today!
