A different SIG P210

[CLASSIC12]

A couple of months ago I saw an ad for a cheap (CHF 1000) Sig P210-2 (milsurp P49) from a private seller. Cheap 210s are scarce, demand is very strong for 210s.

I met the seller and saw the gun, which had a few issues : some wear, some rough machining marks, non original barrel (different number), mag grip and sights.

On the plus side, the adjustable sights cost 250.- new, the sport wooden grips 120.- and the mag is a high polished early one and they cost more too.

I bought it for CHF 900 and decided to get it hard chromed (satin) at a local specialist. And here is the result :

I am very happy with the result

And it still shoots like a P210 should (25 meters offhand)

The 7.65mm is not so common over here on the west side of the big pond.

It looks the same as a 9mm, but shoots the cooler cartridge.

That reminds me. I need to go to the range. I just snagged a case of 7.65mm ammo.

Yes, there is a price difference. In Europe it is a privilege to have a license to own a firearm and that depresses the used gun market somewhat. Here it is a constitutional right and the demand for guns is higher accordingly.

On the other hand, a used Ruger 10/22 costs more in most European countries than a new one costs here.

What is the caliber? Since the barrel is mismatched I wonder if it was because of a caliber change.

Nice re-do but it didn't look too bad to me. But then again, you get to see a vast amount more of these than we do. I've only seen one ever in a local gun shop and I bought it.

Agree, I also love the 7.65 mm and have one as well and a Swiss Luger

So I pick up whatever old stock military ammo I can find

In Switzerland it's a right too. They made over 100'000 of them for the military, which is plenty for a small country, and they keep coming out of attics and basements as the population ages.

In my findings the parts of SIG P210 from the same period and model interchange quite well. I suffer hammer bite from the stock trigger of the P210 and have several complete hammer units that I exchange for shooting the service versions, instead of trimming the original hammer spur off. I have also changed barrels around and found that the fit does not suffer.
I just secured a P210-1 in the box. It comes with the original grips and a set of plastic grips that Oschatz in Southern Germany used to sell.
