The real story is that the Leopard was abandoned as a cub and was all but inconsolable. The Rescue organization happened to have a very young Golden Retriever pup. They were put together and they became best of friends and family. There is a series on YouTube about their growing up together.

But, I still think the above captioned picture is very funny. ....

Dogs, especially Golden Retreivers, are often used as surrogate mothers to cheetahs, lions, and other big cats when they have been orphaned for one reason or another.

Also, young pups and big cat cubs will often become lifelong friends if raised together. Interspecies friendships are incredibly interesting to observe.

I clicked on this post expecting to hear where some loon got all sentimental over a Mossberg 500 or anything Savage ever made.....and instead it's a leopard getting all happy over a dog!!!! Just goes to show you...you never really know till you try.

I was at the San Diego zoo a couple years ago and they had a dog in the enclosure with the cheetas. The dogs help keep the cats calm, everyone seemed to be getting along.

I saw an episode of Dogs 101 on the Animal Planet where they were using Andalusian Shepherds in Africa. They protected the livestock from big cats, mostly cheetahs. The dogs would scare them off but not bother them, because, of course, there's no way they could have caught a cheetah...
