I missed yesterday-here's one more Myres with a sewn block for a .45 auto, a fancy one this time.

"Always show the backside". It'll be on my tombstone I expect. In this case it s/b marked with the 'no tex' Myres stamp because it looks to be from the DuClos era.

The backside …

Very good. Makers 'sign' the backside of their goods with the way the belt loops are configured and how they are sewn. Yours is more Heiser than Myres, then, but Heiser is not known for such elaborate lacing while Myres was. The carving of yours is atypical for early Myres but atypical was the name of the game for 'late' Myres because of ownership changes. And the original 'engavers' as they were called, were dead anyway. The final owners of Myres experimented a lot with the models including even making a Donihoo style (1960s) with a Polk 'Sweetwater' stamp (1890s); the latter is in a TX museum today.

The Heiser, which is turnerriver's as I recall:

Red, that is a Myres holster and is marked as shown. It was cataloged as model 666, no demonic reference intended I'm sure. I've got another example for an auto that isn't marked and is a pretty good match for the poster's holster. This model is shown I believe as numbers 501 and 511 (plain). My 1940 dated catalog is the first to list both models.

Regards,

By 'always show the back' of course I meant this one, John :-). Which is not the 666. But showing your 666 certainly did validate the other, unmarked holster as being a Myres and your catalog page showing the 501 proved it up; I had missed that page in viewing my files.

Thanks heaps, John, I've long had your frontside image but had lost track of the backside image. Even having the 'with Tex' mark I hold it as a Duclos because of the initials being reminiscent of this letter by Duclos that has similar:
