Said it before and saying it again. They can do it. A 6 shot 38 +P or even better a 6 shot 327 Federal mag. With the 327 Federal it probably could be the same size as the current 5 round guns. The 38 +P might be just a bit bigger.

How about a .380 semi auto like the Ruger, K Tec, Micro Eagle??

Is there not a .32 magnum ? Six shot J frame in Ti or scad. even ?
Can't remember the mod. number. Maybe just alum. Rare but I saw one , pretty sure. Ammo is stupid rare so I passed for my J frame collection .
Just my 2 cents .

You are in luck, the model 632 is supposed to be out, six shot j frame in 327 federal. Problem is 9 months after writing about them in the gun rags, no one has them. You'll see my numerous posts about the unicorn, spoken off but never seen.

The Colts are fine handguns. There are two Det Specials at the shop now. Only problem is the hammer for pocket carry. I would have to bob it but could not bring myself to "ruin" a gun like that. No one is around to work on Colts should something need to be fixed on it without paying a fortune.

S&W does have the 632 but it has the exposed hammer and a 3" barrel and weighs in at 24.5 oz. Ruger has one of those.

I am thinking a 642 or 340 type gun in 327 Federal, 6 rounds.

Kinda like a CS380, little brother to the CS9, 40, and 45.

I'd try it out.

That would be the 431/432. A 6 shot, 2" 32 mag. (I have one)

I have the Ruger and K Tec. Waiting for the Kahr to show up. I like the Micro Eagle also but I only have 4 pockets.:D

S&W is losing a big market share IMO by not having a pocket 380. I have a PPK (or S&W still has it:() but it is a holster gun.

I usually carry the Kahr PM9 which is not much bigger.

Just wanting a revolver, no magazines, no feeding problems etc.

I just got my P380. Much smaller than the PM9 or PM40. I have all three. :)

What about the sig 238, anyone handle one yet? I like my amt 380 and my mustang but I want to know more about the sig.

I love my big Sigs. The 238 I am sure is a quality gun but by the pictures I have seen with the hammer and beaver tail, it does not seem like a "pocket" gun. Kinda of a mini 1911.
I have always liked the P232 but again a bit large for the pocket.
If I am goning to side holster a gun it will be bigger than a 380.

Agreed. That's exactly why I love my P3AT, it's the definition of a pocket gun: thin and light. There are larger calibers that come CLOSE, but not close enough. The K-T just disappears, unlike those larger guns. If its noticeable, it belongs on your side. Same thing with many .380's (Sig and PPK). And if it's already on your side anyway, step up from that .380 if you can.

If S&W put their hat in the "pocket .380" ring they wouldn't regret it. That's the biggest thing going right now. Just try to find ammo for it! Other calibers are popping back up but .380 can't stay on the shelf.

I love my mouse gun! :D:D:D

Well, I guess this thread took a turn from a J frame 6 shot to "mouse guns":)
The best little mouse is the Seecamp LWS 32. The 380 is the same size but brutal to shoot.
I can't wait to see a Kahr 380. I might even break down and buy a Kel Tec PF-9.

Go to this link and click the size/weight comparison chart.
It is a PDF and I can not direct link to it. It shows most of the mouse guns in comparison to the Seecamp.

If S&W made an alloy 2", 6-shot .32 Centennial, that would be a perfect BUG to a 4" alloy 7-shot K-frame or 8-shot L-frame primary in .327 mag (if those could work). You could use the ammo in your BUG or its reloads in your primary in case of emergency.

If the BUG were .327 mag, it would have to be Sc (expensive). If it were .32 H&R mag or .32 spl, they could use regular alloy. I don't think a .327 mag in a 2" gun makes sense ballistically -- it would just be a flame throwering mule. So I'd use either .32 H&R or .32 Spl. regardless of whether it could take .327 mag

With this you opened the door to this thread turning into a mouse gun thread.

I "almost" agree with the ballistic part of a 327 Fed in a 2" gun but think it is far better than a 357 Mag in the same gun which a lot of folks use. I have a running argument with a friend over the that and I prefer a 38 +P for the reasons you stated. It probably is not worth the extra 100fps and recoil at 10 ft or less. I only mentioned327 due to its slightly smaller size to pack 6 into cylinder.

Heck they could make the gun just a bit bigger and put 6 38 specials a la Colt.

Mouse guns are fine, I have many and love my Mice.:)

Full moon clips .32ACP...I would prefer it in 5 shot for the resultant smaller cylinder diameter...a 7 shot should be doable with the cylinder from the 351PD....all aluminum and Titanium..this would have to be an attractive pocket piece. The full moon clips would make it almost as fast as an auto to reload and no FTF.

I just sold my blued steel model 30 6 shot 32 long.
I know they make it in a lightweight version.
I am away from my charts but as I recall .32 long and .380 auto werent that far apart ballisticly.
Very easy on the shooters hand as well.
a .32 H&R mag gun can shoot .32 longs and .32 shorts also.
Just my .2 cents worth.
BTW, ...I have a Colt SFVI .38 snub 6 shot not much bigger than my models 36 and 60....Its doable without stepping up to a K fram IMHO.
Cheers

MTHEO,
Where did you get that image? Looks great to me!!! My thought has always been for SW to make more options on the Bodyguard frame. A 10-shot .22 or .22 mag, 7 shot .32, etc.

mod34,
Unfortunately the image is a Photoshop reconstruction of my 351PD. I made this image sometime ago hoping to spark someone at S&W into thinking about producing a line of diminutive revolvers using modern light weight materials. I have always liked the concept of using full moon clips as "speed loaders." M3AT on the barrel was a play on the Keltec pistol.

I like your handle "mod34." My first Smith was a model 34 purchased in 1973.....I still have it and have been a sucker for "J" frames since.
