I have a 65-4 you can cock it and if you push on the hammer it will fire, I took it apart, and it seems the hammer and trigger mating surfaces are wore badly, question what all hammers will fit this model, ( from different models) I have found a new trigger, and would like to find a new, or really good hammer to replace mine, THANKS for any help

Hammers and triggers are not drop in parts. It's possible that your 65 could be repaired by refitting the trigger to the hammer, but it's also possible that the trigger or the hammer or both need to be replaced and refit.

Look at the SA cocking notch on the hammer with a magnifier. If it's not damaged, you may be able to have the bevel on the trigger re-sharpened to restore proper function. If the hammer notch has been damaged, you will need to replace the hammer.

Also, check that the mainspring strain screw is tight, and that the rebound slide spring is a full length, OEM spring. Lightening the mainspring or rebound spring can contribute to push off.

If you have a trusted, trained gunsmith in the area, he should be able to repair the damage, or fit the new parts. An alternative would be to contact S&W Customer Service for a repair estimate. 1-800-331-0852

Thanks for the advice, I checked the mainspring, it is tight, so to check the trigger spring, I gently put a screwdriver behind the trigger, and held a little pressure on it, and tried to push off the hammer, and wow, couldn't push it off, I think someone has been adjusting trigger pull, I am gonna order a spring set for it, and see if that is the fix, I did notice that on DA it has a lot lighter of a pull than my 13-4, and I cant push of the hammer on it. I picked this up a little while ago for a whopping 150, so I don't mind to spend a few bucks on it
