The following is excerpted from yesterdays BBC in a feature about statements from the Home Secretary Mrs. May. The final statement is remarkable for its lack of usefulness. Please point out any weapon used in the Paris attacks which was legally purchased and which gun control could solve. The quote has been shortened for brevity but the context is complete.

Mrs. May said police and emergency services had been prepared for the possibility of a "marauding gun attack" in the UK since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, but plans would be reviewed in light of Friday's events.

"As soon as the attacks took place, we took steps to maintain the security of the UK," she said.

"The police have increased their presence on some streets and at some locations, and they will be intensifying their approach at events in big cities."

She also said she would be lobbying her European counterparts for tighter gun laws across the European Union.

Not surprising from a country that BEGGED for guns and in turn was sent plenty from this country in order to defend their shores.

Full disclaimer I'm 1/2 English (on my mothers side)

Of course after they won the war they made most of those guns all illegal and in turn were done away with.

Many of those guns sent in good faith were expensive and or now collector items.

They have had a long slide since Churchill. I think his personal guns are now all in museums. The 1997 law probably took them from the family.

I read that over 300,000 privately owned pistols had to be handed over to the government for destruction after that horrible law passed.

I seriously doubt that Belgium allows the sale of AK-47's or that the arms used in the Paris massacres were bought legally. The problem is that Brussels has a very large Islamic community where all sorts of illegal things happen. I saw a feature about that on the news, I think on Fox. Many of those people support terrorist activities.

Of course, the bombs used in Paris are also illegal.

we are ALL insuring heighten security....after the horse has left the barn....
