I was down in Lufkin for a shopping foray and had to stop in the friendly hole in the wall gun shop. There, hiding deep in the revolver cabinet, was a pretty nice M27-2 nickel plated with 8 3/8" barrel. I've only been wanting a M27 for about the last 40 years, so today was my chance and I didn't pass it up!
I also couldn't pass the opportunity to try the red dot, so I used some 358429s I had loaded with 7.0 gr of SR 4756 in .38 Special brass out in the front yard. It may take a little getting used to the sight, but it seemed to handle good. Maybe as good as my 4-5 year older M28-2.
