I figure if Smith and Wesson can make so many models of Alloy J frame +P .38s for CCW they can certainly make +P Alloy K frames for CCW also. Would you want one? Colt Cobra Look Out!

They almost made a Model 12 when they made the .38 Special K frame Model 315 Night Guard. It had a scandium alloyed aluminum frame and blackened stainless cylinder. Unfortunately the Night Guard series was expensive which likely was its down fall. Out of the series the Model 315 probably sold the least.

The Model 12 wasn't a very good seller when they were in production. That, and the changes they would need to make to avoid the dreaded cracked aluminum frame hysteria, mostly held and repeated by folks who have never owned and shot a Model 12, make it unlikely we will ever see another one.

Clean used ones aren't hard to find, since Al Gore invented the internet. I have my two, a square butt 4 incher and a round butt 2 incher. I used to keep eyes out for a 2 inch nickel gun for the additional wear and corrosion resistance but I think I am too old and well armed to need another .38 Special now.

I like the 315
