I have a Lee ladle pot and am considering adding a PID. Looking on Amazon and EBay there are hundreds listed anywhere from $13 on up. Some come as kits with thermocouples, relays, best sinks.
I'm figuring a 100mm thermocouple would get the probe into the melt.
Many of the PIDs say they are for temps up to 400° C, which is right on the edge of where I'd like it to read.
The thermocouples seem to be rated to a higher temp.
Can the PID be set to read higher temps or is it dependent on the thermocouple?
Also can they be set to read in F°?
I'm part Scot so I'm looking for the best value for my $$.
Thanks
