A sad goodby!

A friend that is 83 years old that has been fighting the good fight against cancer for the last 5 years is leaving us.

His daughter came up to take him to the different state she lives in, taking him to a hospice near her. He is a member of our Thursday morning get together at the local family run diner..

So glad we had the chance to say good by. He was a sort of gun person but more of a serious hunter. Long time retired NYC police officer. All in all a very decent person, he will be missed!

As many of my friends as I have already lost I am not looking forward to losing more. Inevitable, I know, but it does suck.

my sympathies... my big brother put my sister in law in hospice 2 days ago as her cancer fight wound down.. she passed this morning...

My condolences on your friend beginning his final journey.
Unfortunately none of us are going to make it out of here alive.
I am reaching that point in my life where several of my close friends (all older than me) have already passed or are entering the last chapter of their lives.

Almost of my friends are gone and some younger than myself. Last few years I had to do the dogging in the brush when deer hunting for younger guys now they are no longer here. Seems to me I go to more funerals than weddings anymore. I hate being old but it beats the Hell of the alternative

Statistically, more than half of my high school graduating class are no longer with us. This was the class of 1961. Social security gives me another 7 years. Using the sports analogy, I am in overtime! I have passed my expiration date, and my extended warranty is up!
