A "Snubbed" .44 Transitional

A second .44 from the same seller as the 3.75" 2nd model w/King sights I previously posted. This one is a 3rd model transitional, shipped 8/46, cut to 4" with the original front sight modified and soldered back on. Probably can't call it a snub, since 4" was a factory option. Regardless, someone took a scarce gun and made it into a less desirable version of what he could have bought unaltered. I'd hate to letter it and find he started with a scarce(r) 6.5"
This one is also fitted with Hogue rosewoods, these being two-piece while the 2nd model has the Monogrip style. Both very attractive in my opinion.

Back in the day, when these were pretty commonly seen revolvers, no one thought twice about chopping down the barrels. I would say that one that has been altered is no longer a collector item, but if mechanically sound, would make for a good shooter.
