Went to a little gun show in Abingdon, Va. today, at the Washington County Fairgrounds. I had a little business to do, sell a Yugo Mauser to get funds for another purchase. I have a 1972 vintage fixed sight Ruger Security Six on layaway....
I was initially disappointed at the number of tables, show was advertised as 300 tables but I bet there was lass than half that number. What it did have was lots of Smith & Wessons.
A dealer from Roanoke who sets up at a lot of Virginia shows (he has a shop on Williamson Road in Roanoke) probably had 35 S&W's, 4" Model 28, Model 36, 4" heavy barrel Model 64 etc. He's set up on the far right wall.
Across from him was a guy with two pre-war 4" .38 Special M&P revolvers, 500,000 range serial numbers, $350 for one, $300 for the other. The $300 one had the original grips with gold medallion.
Another guy down the same aisle had two LNIB S&W, a 4" heavy barrel Model 10, and a 4" heavy barrel Model 64 in blue cardboard box, $400 for each.
Several other dealers had lots of good S&W's, saw several 4" Model 28's. Lots of folks walking around selling guns, including vintage S&W.
I sold my Yugo Mauser for enough to get the Ruger Security Six out of layaway, so look for pics of that.
