For you owners of the 619, do they have the same sticky chambers problem (difficult ejection)as many of the model 17 and 34's have?

Yes, some of them do have problems ejecting/extracting.

Some times it's the ammo, sometimes it's the gun.

A few years ago I bought a used 8 3/8 6 shot 617 that was manufactured around 1990 and it would not eject/extract any brassed cased 22 lr ammo that was fired in it.

CCI Stingers would extract no problem but regular brassed cased (read Cheap)ammo would get stuck in the chambers tighter than dicks hatband.

I called S&W and they said send it in and they would fix it for a fee.

I figured I could fix it myself and save the shipping and used a 22 caliber brush chucked in a hand drill with some Flitz applied to it and in about an hour it was good to go.

It extracts everything now with no problems.

Thanks for the reply. I'm beginning to think it's just something .22 revolver shooters have to put up with.

I have two 17s and a 617 and don't have the problem with any of them. It would be interesting to know the diameter of those sticky chambers. I would not be tempted to fix it by using a drill motor and chamber brush.

No extraction Problems with my 4" 617 No Dash 6 Shooter, I've tried several different ammo types & it realy likes the cheap Federal 550 Value Pack Ammo From Wal-Mart, It's realy accurate & the Copper washed bullet keeps the forcing cone alot cleaner than standard lead or wax dipped ammo does..
Good Luck!!

I think I'll try a milder polish using a bore mop and some Flitz.
Thanks for the responses.
