It is my sad duty to inform you that Edward F. Cornett, known here as opoefc, died this morning at his home in California. He was 94.
Ed was a Founding Member of the SWCA when it was formed in 1970. His member number was 15.
Ed was one of the "Grand Old Men" of gun collecting in general and S&W collecting in particular. He was a Korean War vet.

We are all diminished by his loss.
My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

Ed was oh so generous with his time and knowledge. I have one of his pre war 22 Outdoorsman.

Condolences to his family and his many friends.

Ed was a friend who went out of his way to send me catalogs and advise me of collections I might be interested in buying. A group of us would have dinner together at a Symposium every now and then, it was a pleasure to listen to him talk about people and guns he had known. I and many others will miss him greatly.
Condolences to Ken and family.
Rest in peace, Ed.
Respectfully,
John Witty

The first time I met Ed, I told him my last name. He immediately identified and asked about my father …. he had traded with him many times prior and knew him from the association. I sat with him for an hour at his table and visited as if we'd know each other for years.
Ed's knowledge and generosity will be missed.
R.I.P. Sir
