what form of Discrimination is this not.
1. Lets not sell to any Blacks, Mexicans, Jewish people.
2. Lets not sell gasoline to old people because they cant see too well and might get in a wreck
3. Lets not sell to any White country folk out of fear of them being in a militia.
I cannot belive some peeps on this forum actually were not outraged over this comment
If..and I say if...this is true we should voice our opinions on:
Academy Website Survey

Sending a link to NRA and GOA to see what they have to say about this as well. Might as well get something out of my membership besides Spam and further monetary commitments eh?

And any lawyers onboard this forum...maybe you could give your 2 copper pieces. Might be some money in it for you by finding people who were affected. I sure as hell asm going to look further into this one!

I am not a lawyer, so I'll leave points of legality for the better qualified to comment on.

As a general matter, no one can force any private business or person to do business with anyone else. Any business may establish any rules that they wish for how they conduct their business unless, of course, such rules result in illegal discrimination (race, sex, ethnicity, etc, etc, etc).

My understanding of "age discrimination" is that such prohibitions apply to discriminating against the elderly, not the youthful. Perhaps enough 18 to 20 year olds will come forth to establish new case law at the other end of the age spectrum.

It is well established that an FFL is within the law to refuse to sell guns using more strict rules than the Federal law requires.
Many people have tried to challenge this, and you are wasting your time, unless you can prove it violates current civil rights laws, which are narrowly and specifically defined. Being too young is not one of them, as evidenced by some state laws restricting gun and carry license sales to 21 or even 23.

It would take a new law.
Added: And what chance is there for the current Congress to pass a Federal law forcing dealers to sell the dreaded "assault weapons" to 18-year-olds?

Age discrimination

Hi all,
I have no idea of the law. I do know, or have heard of age discrimination.
This sounds like that to me.
Thanks
Mike

Just don't buy from them anymore. Tell your family, friends, and anyone that shoots to stop buying from Academy. Stores can do what they want, just like the dixie chicks, but there are consequences, Just make sure they are severe so they can be shown the error of their ways. I'm sure the NRA already knows and will not let them advertise in any of their publications. Remember, magazines are written 2 to 3 months in advance. Oh yea, calm down, save your strentgh for the battles with the real enemy, your senator and representative.
