Accuracy issues with 2.0?

I’m in that thread. My 5” tan is pretty rad with the factory barrel. Everything else (a 5”’Pro and a couple 4.25” guns) has an Apex barrel in it. The 2.0 is better than the 1.0 (still not great) but the Apex is next level. It makes the M&P simply fantastic.

I been a 40sw guy since '90 but an m&p 40sw guy now for 12 years and carry ether a 4.25 1.0 or a 5" 2.0 Both are very good shooters.

My wife bought an early m&p core 4.25 9mm shot patterns not groups and after s&w CS stated it was in spec after a trip home ! It state in the safe for a couple years but as soon as Apex mentioned Barrels in semi and gun smith fit I got on there early order list for a gun smith fit barrel . simple to fit at home and turned that m&p into a very accurate 1.25 " 5 shot pistol at 25 yards with a dot optic . I now have a bought my self a m&p 2.0 compact 4" and it groups far better than the 1/0 4.25 But today it has a apex gunsmith fot barrel too and is also a far more accurate shooter but I'm almost 69 and wear trifocals and my gun sizes are not as tight for me anymore . My grandson can still shot the compact as well as the older 4.25 core .
All but my 2.0 40 have apex fst trigger kits in them and three have holosun green circle dots on them now .

I notice replys in the other forum Do Not state what apex barrel they bought . Drop in , Semi-drop in or the gun smith fit .

I am starting to converting over to our m&p 9mm for carry and also added a smaller lighter carry option in a Hellcat pro comp that is a better stock grouping pistol than ether m&p 9mm in stock condition at 15 yards .

Stinks that they need to be modified inorder to be accurate

Stumbled on this thread, was curious what your experiences are

S&W M&P 2.0 Accuracy on current production models

My experience is that my five M&P 1.0 and 2.0 pistols have had good accuracy. And my son has owned several M&Ps with no accuracy problems.

My question is why people apparently don't bother to do any research and then whine when they find their guns have issues that had been widely discussed. And it is not limited to "fool me once" but buying -and whining about- multiple examples of guns with the same issue.

It might help if the contributors to a thread like this define what they consider as 'accurate'. Were my eyes up to it, I would consider 3" groups at 25 yards from any pistol as 'good accuracy'.

Hardluk converting to 9mm????

This is how you know the world is definitely coming to an end soon.

My stock M&P 2.0 4.2" 9MM barrel grouped freehand about 8" which wasn't too bad, and from a rest it grouped about 5" which isn't too shabby either.

My apex gunsmith fit barrel groups freehand about 4-5" at 25 yards, and from a rest it will do 2-3"

My 147gr handloads at 935fps will do 3" at 25, and 1-1.5" from a rest.

If I back off on the charge to about 700ish fps the groups will tighten up a bit, but the ejection is weak, and I don't trust it. Not worth it for maybe .5" tighter groups.

These are 10rd groups.

Hahahaha

I bought my first 1911 in 45 in '76 . I was a arginine systema 5" 1927 but started carrying a 1911 officers acp in '86 when I got my CCW and changed to the lw commander in '90 . making the choice to eliminate my 1911 in 45 took some time .

Adding a 9mm to my carry options was easier as I know it was coming and why I bought the 4" compact 1.5 years ago and added a green holosun circle dot optic . I've been practicing some with it every 2 weeks since . Still carry one of my m&p 40sw but I just reduced my practice time with it some .

So life does go on , It just a bit different ,

I’ve always thought of “acceptable” pistol accuracy as 5-shots in one inch per ten yards, from a rest. So at 25, 2.5 inches and at 50, 5 inches and so on. I owned several early M&P 9mm pistols that were terrible. I think my score was 0-3. I’d made up my mind I’d never buy another one. One evening I walked into the indoor range and there was a used 5 inch FDE 2.0 in the case. On a whim, I asked if I could shoot it. I ended up buying it. I’m not sure it would consistently shoot 2.5 inch groups at 25 yards, but I think with good ammo it would do it, come darn close, or maybe even do better. Needless to say, I’m not spending any money on bits and pieces.

The .45 caliber M&Ps usually seem to shoot very well, and I’ve seen M&P 40s that were good shooters with certain ammo. My impression is that S&W is not real serious about the accuracy of M&Ps and have a “that will do” attitude about them. The triggers on the early guns were so awful that was proof enough for me. Some people no doubt can live with a junk trigger, but I expected something at least serviceable from S&W.

I'll 2nd SoCalDep post, added a gunsmith fitted Apex barrel to my M &P 2.0 4.25 model from his long post on Apex barrels several years ago. This member knows his M&P's, you can take his advise to the bank. What a difference, all groupings clustered in the 10X.

Wished Apex produced a barrel for the Shield, would have added it too.
