I've been asking the same question about the local "country" stations for years.. there aren't too many artists that I consider country any more. Most of them are Pop stars for lack of a better term.

I miss country music too. I grew up in a fairly small very redneck town
and about 90% of the music I heard was country until the Beatles
came over about 1964 I think. There were some notable exceptions to
the old down and out theme classic country music such as Elvis, Roy
Orbison, Little Richard and a few others. And I still miss the old classic
country music to this day, every single chance I get.

How many different award shows does "Country" music have every year (or month)? It seems like there is always some different one being on??

Country music died a horrible, painful death 20+ years ago when it was taken over by the likes of Garth Brooks, Shania Twain and others.

Today it is barely discernable from pop music or rock and roll. In fact, I think most country singers today are just musicians that couldn't make it in other genres so they released a country album.

There are exceptions, of course, but todays country music pretty well sucks.

Only one I like now that comes to Nevada is Reba.

Mickey Gilley put on a pretty good show two years ago but
had his foot in a cast and did not move around much.

Many moons ago a great show was put on by Kenny Rogers
before he had face surgery.

These three have TONS of top hits of how it should be song......
too bad it is going down hill.

Real country music is dead! I mean real country as in likes of Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Merle Haggard, George Jones and on and on. Today’s Country music is ****.
