This bums me out severely. Something about Bill Paxton always appealed to me. Just seemed like a guy I would love to have a beer with and shoot some pool with. "A Simple Plan" is a great movie, one of my favorites. He never seemed to be full of himself like so many others. Never a scandal. 30 years married to the same woman. So rare in Hollywood.
The only actor I am aware of who was killed by an Alien, a Predator, and a Terminator. Wish he could have had a role on the Walking Dead to complete the record.
I hope James Cameron pays him proper respect. He was in so many of his films. Aliens, Terminator, Titanic, True Lies. Man, I am really bummed about this. Opened my web browser and saw the story. Felt like I got kicked in the stomach. I thought the new Training Day TV show sucked, but not because of Paxton.
was surprised to see op's thread. checking on the new program Training Day, and it is the same Bill Paxton, i think. Training Day this past week just started to show a side of Bill. was thinking when TD started it was slow, now it is going to be interesting to see what the show is going to produce.
He was a good actor and what I especially liked about him was his voice. He had a unique voice that had a calmness to it. He worked with James Cameron on a few films, not just as an actor but also as a director. I remember an interview with Paxton about Ghosts of the Abyss, a documentary where he and Cameron went to the Titanic wreck. It was a great interview. Paxton narrated the film. I agree with kbm6893 that he seemed like a down to earth guy, that you could sit down with and have a good conversation about any topic.
Just a good old boy from Texas. I have been watching the Training Day series and found his character to be quite well done. He plays somewhat of a monster but you can't send Mr. Rogers after the worst scum in a city.
As others have said, a long successful career and yet married to the same woman for 30 years all while working in the cesspool called Hollywood.
RIP Bill and would love to sit and have a beer with you someday......
Everyone remembers him for different films. My favorite was his acting job as Sam Houston in the Texas Rising mini series on the History Channel. He was descended from Sam Houston and was a role he much desired. I also loved his acting in the Hatfield and McCoy mini series. I my opinion, one of the better actors to have every taken to acting before the camera. He will be missed. Great actor.
