Very nice. Best I can tell from the "bible" is pre 1942 so mid '30 is probably correct. Beautiful gun and box looks terrific too. I found its younger sister today but I'll open a separate thread on that. Enjoy.

The stocks are numbered to the gun, in pencil, in what appears to be the same handwriting as the serial number written in pencil on the bottom of the box.

The serial # puts the build date in the late 1920's. But because inventory was bulging after the stock market crash on "Black Tuesday", Oct. 29, 1929, it could have been shipped anytime in the following 10 years.
Order to replace 'mushroom' extractor knob, with the 'Barrel' style (single milling cut under barrel), on all HE non-shrouded barrel models, 1/22/27, so yours is after that.
Stock #s changed from penciled to stamped #s in 1929 so yours is before that.
Stock medallions reinstated 2/11/1929, so yours is before that.

I feel you, but this one won't get shot. I have 2 other RPs for that. I guess I've reached the age where the collecting is outweighing the shooting. I only have one other .32 HE that I don't shoot, in unfired condition.

I'm not really that bold. Of course it was test fired at the factory. I base my claim on the fact that I cannot find any evidence of the gun having been fired beyond testing, such as any powder/lead residue at all, excessive turn marks, shell casing indentations or frame scoring. It "appears" to be unfired to me. I would never sell it as such.

I have a few in this condition. I like to think that they were purchased, fondled and went into a desk or bureau drawer. Something that a bank president or a refined lady might do?
