Decided to add a .45acp revolver. How is accuracy compared to a 1911?
Plenty of 625JM's around.
Also see some 325's and 625's. 325 seems tactical heavy, and lighter weight.625 seems like a PC shop gun, and pricey.

Anyone better than the others?

Mike,
I like my 1911's. But, I do like my wheel guns also. I'm usually more accurate with my wheel guns also.
My 4" 625 is one of my favorites.
I've met JM ,, super nice guy. he prefers the serrated trigger and those smooth wood grip.

Personally, I prefer a smooth trigger and ugly black rubber grips.
But when I'm as famous and as good a shot as JM.
Then maybe my opinion and a $1.50 will be worth more than a cup of coffee. :)

Accuracy with either the 1911 or the 625 (mine is a 625-6 with 5" barrel and a 625-8 JM Special with 4" barrel) will give you all the accuracy that you can use.

I have about 100,000 rounds through a 1911 and less than 15,000 through a 625. I prefer to shoot my 625's for pure pleasure. And-d-d, no bending over picking up empties...

I recently bought a 25-8, 5" N.I.B. from the original owner. It shipped in mid 2003.
Claimed to weigh 47 oz. empty. I don't like the rubber grips and will probably get some wood stocks for show & perhaps to shoot. I was looking for a 25-2 but this came along first. I may trade it off when I find the 25-2 or just keep both. It's a great looking revolver.
I'm looking forward to shooting it soon.

I liked my 625JM, but I recently traded it in for a Model 625, Model of 1988, 5" barrel. There wasn't a whole lot of difference between the two, but the extra 1" of barrel made for better balance for me.

I also own a Model 325NG, with Ahrends Retro Combat stocks. It's nearly perfect as a concealed revolver, N frame aside. Great balance, eminently carryable, and very accurate.

I have owned every single 625 45 acp out there no 45 colts though just the 45acp's . At one point had over 30 625's in my collection, I have sold them all and only have 3 left which should give you a good idea of of the best shooters out of them all in my opinion:
1. 625-8 V-comp
2. 625-3 3 inch
3. 625-8 JM version

All these are fine pistolas for sure but for my money a M22 is best. I have one of the above mentioned, but find that I carry and use the M22 more oftern.

For what use?

Carry: 325PD
Target: PC625
Bowling Pins: 625 V-comp
Collector: 625 Mountain Gun
Investment: 1917 Civilian
Gernal: 625-3

I have a 1917 and a 25-5 (I think=The Model 1955). The Model 25 is one of the most accurate centerfire revolvers I have=right up with my Gold Cup.

What's the main difference between the 625JM gun, and the performance center 625, other than grips? Both have bead front sights.
The 625PC is no longer cataloged but I found a couple. Weight seems about the same.

Here is my 625 PC. 10 shots one handed @ 50 feet. Not bad for an old guy.

I have a 625-2 that I consider one of if not the most accurate revolver I've ever owned. I have had a few high end 1911 pistols that would stay with this revolver in terms of on target accuracy, but never have I had a 1911 that would fire such a large variety of different loads accurately. I shoot my 625 w/o "moon clips." Why? It slows me down... so that I don't shoot up all my ammunition so fast! Seriously, empty brass is easy to flick out with a finger nail. Even the WOLF steel cased loads eject easily rarely requiring more effort than when firing brass cased ammunition. I find the SA and DA trigger pull on this revolver to be superior to anything I've ever had on any other revolver... K, L or N frame. I've had three Pythons... none of which had this good a SA/DA trigger. I really like the 5" barrel on my revolver. It's balance is excellent. The front sight gives a very good sight picture. I think it is just about the most ideal .45 ACP revolver in existence. Of course this is JMHO. Sincerely. brucev.

One of the reasons I chose the PC was the look. I think it's called a snub nose, but whatever it's called, I like how the lower part of the barrel is cut down and shaped differently than the JM. I also chose the smooth trigger that the PC has over the serrated JM trigger. Ultimately, it's not much different and I knew I wasn't going to keep the stock grips no matter which one I chose so the PC grips didn't bother me.

I just posted this in another thread... then I saw this post so I will quote it
"I was at my lgs just a few minutes ago. Just browsing the few wheel guns they had amongst the dozens of semi's. And there it was... I didn't even know I was supposed to want it. I didn't think I wanted one until I saw it... but I do!
A beautiful SW 625JM "Jerry Miculek" from the PC. I need to have it! It felt so good in my hand..
I just bought a model 19-4 yesterday so I have to wait until I at least pick that one up before I put it this on lay away. But I hope to pick up tomorrow so I could buy it on Monday... I am in love! That would make 4 revolvers this month..I think i'm an addict

Good shooting 625smith. I wish I thought to take a pick of my target yesterday. I have a 625PC and love the trigger. I put all but 3 out of 25 in the black yesterday at 25 yds. I knew immediately upon pulling the trigger on 2 of the 3 that I moved. The third was a flyer, it keyholed the target low left. Anyway I have several nice revolvers, one was sent to factory for master revolver action job. The 625PC is the best out of all of them.

What do I need to know about the moon clips?
Most I see are full. Any advantage to half-moons?
Guess a loading tool is needed.
How many moon clips are needed? Do they bend? Probably stainless?

IMHO, the VERY BEST are RIMZ. They are made of a polycarbonate material, that is easily loaded and unloaded W/O the need for tools. They are very durable, and hold cartridges VERY securely. My 625-3 LOVES them........

First Question: Half or Full Moon Clips? Full
I have 3 factory S&W moon clip guns. They all came with 1/2 Moon clips. The clips are all still in the factory boxes unused.

Are they easy to bend: Not Bad as long as you are not real rough on them. I have never bent any 45 clips so far.

Is a Loader needed? I would get one. It will save a lot of head aches, and keep you from bending the clips. The de-mooner is also handy.

Rimz Plastic moon clips were mentioned: They will work with the late model guns. They are handy for range work. They can be loaded, and unloaded with your fingers. They can also be broke, so do not treat them real rough. I recommend them for plinking. For serious carry and matches use steel. If you drop a Rimz on the ground, rounds can come out of the clip very easily.

I have a 3" 625-3 Power Custom Combat. I also have a 310 Night Guard, and a 610. I really like moon clip guns.
