Is this something I can do my self or does it require a gun smith?

You can if you have the correct tools. A brass punch can be used to drift the sight for windage. You will want to use a padded vise and tape the end of the brass punch to avoid damage to the slide and sight on your firearm. You will also need to loosen the set screw on the rear sight before you try to move it. I used a brass punch and a Lohman Sight Vise to adjust the rear sight on my M&P 40. Perform a search on the forum on this subject and you will see a lot of advice on adjusting sights and different tools that can be used to do so.
