Adolf Hitlers revolver

I couldn't get the original link to work either, but this corrected link works fine.

This is interesting. I always thought one of Hitler's favorite pistols was an engraved Walther (PP?).

While Eva Braun liked her .25 pistol, it is my understanding that Der Fuhrer's favorite side arms was a Walther 32 (I can't remember if it was a PP or PPK)
While the 38 M&P Goering got caught with was most likely a captured and not commercially purchased weapon, the Ladysmith revolver mentioned was kind of an oddity when it came out in the first place.
While anything is possible, I kinda raise my eyebrow like Mr. Spock on this one, though.

Wow great story. I remember when I was small, my Father showing my brother and I the Lugar, a small Baretta and a couple of other pistols that he had bought back fronm the war. A few years ago I asked him about them and he told me he had to sell them after the Korean war to feed the family. I sure wish he could have kept them.

I skimmed a large part of the article. I didn't see hard and fast evidence that Hitler even touched that gun, let alone owned it or kept it close to hand. Handguns weren't uncommon in Germany prior to 1945. Most German officers and even many NCOs tried to obtain one if they were on occupation duty. Swiping a .22 revolver sounds like something that a desk bound staff officer might have done after the French capitulation (front line officers usually carried and "obtained" more effective guns).

Hitler did own a number of firearms though. Like many head's of state at the time, they were often presented as gifts. He apparently carried a .32 auto on his person - a common choice for personal protection in Germany at the time.
