When they built that robot I hope they didn't use any of the leftover parts they had laying around from those Toyota gas pedals. :eek: :eek:

I would say advancement. The Japanese are doing some terrific work on robotics over the past several years. Part of this is because their population is both aging and declining and there aren't enough people to care for the upcoming wave of elderly people.

Japan as a nation has been losing population for several years and will continue to do so absent a change in the society.

Using robotics may be their salvation. China also has "issues" with their aging generation. The selection of male offspring in a one child household makes for problems later.

Jared Diamond has written a book, Collapse, that analyzes why civilizations fail. According to him, we are not sustainable either.
