I live in black bear country and hike every day. I normally carry my Mod 60 .38 spcl and am looking at a .357. I have looked at the pictures of both the Mod 60 .357 3" as well as the 2.125" standard models and the .357 3" mod 60 Pro Series. I know what they look like but want to know what are the functional differences between these. I would like to use the one that I select as my daily conceal carry.
Thanks
John

I have the full-lugged 3" .357 model (60-15) pictured below. It has seen a sight and grip change. The 3" model will have a higher velocity than the shorter barrel models and the adjustable sights will allow you to set up your handgun for point of aim shooting at any reasonable distance and with any appropriate load. The longer sight radius is also a great aid in accurate shooting.

My 3-inch model is my favorite woods gun. I have it sighted in at 50 yards with mid-range .357 loads. It is a handful with these loads, but not as bad as with full-house loads. I have, on occassion, carried it with Buffalo Bore Hard Cast loads when in "big" bear country out in the northern Rockies. No fun to shoot, but this would not be "recreational" shooting.

I believe the full-lugged barrel might help a little more with recoil than the sculptured barrel on the pro model, but can't say for sure because I have no experience witht the pro model. Good grips will also help a great deal.
