Good news. The second opinion is a more conservative approach, expressed by a very experienced surgeon, specializing in mitral valves and afib. He is deciding what approach to take after viewing a new echocardiogram with my heart in normal rhythm.

Bad news. On the way to that appointment last Monday, wife was driving, she felt dizzy all of a sudden. She pulled over, just as I got out, a trooper stopped, and immediately called an ambulance. Wife's BP was 230/99!!
Since we were going to the hospital anyway she was transported there, I had my appt. and she went to the ER, where a CT scan showed that she had a stroke. A small vessel burst in her cerebellum causing extreme vertigo, nausea, and dizziness.

So there we are. I spend most of the day with her in the critical care neuroscience building. All of her motor skills are intact. The only impairment so far is dizziness and a still elevated BP.

Thanks for listening. One of my pleasures is to come home in the evening and read LOUNGE postings. Even though we've never met, we all share sympathy, empathy for one another as our lives progress.
We could use a prayer or two...........and mine go out to those who have expressed health issues as well.

( From a former A Fib, A Flutter, Ablation, Mitrial Valve Repair guy.. )

Hey, take care. There are a lot of us of around the same vintage by looking at the various posts. Do what the Dr. says, I'll include you and the wife in my prayers.

Prayer up for you Dave, and your wife.
The Mrs. seems a tough and capable gal, able to make it off the road while experiencing the worst. Hoping with some timely care and yourself pulling with her she'll recover quickly.
Meanwhile we're counting on appropriate action leading to good news regarding the a-fib.
