A couple of months ago I decided that I "needed" a S&W 22 revolver. And I was soon surprised at how hard it was to find one in excellent condition here in Canada. I live near Toronto.
But this story ended happily after I located one online in Calgary. In fact, the gun exceeds my expectations. It came out of the estate of a German man who was obviously more of a collector than a shooter. Notice the German proof marks. So far I have been able to determine the gun was made in 1975. It was proofed and I assume sold by S&W in Germany in 1977. It was then brought by its owner to western Canada.
I would rate its condition as Excellent.
It came with the standard target grips which I have put in a safe place along with the original box, papers and unused tool set. The Hogue grips match a set I have on my five inch 27-2.
The first range session showed that it is very accurate. The only issue, and perhaps someone has some suggestions, is that the ejector was hard to push after shooting. It is very stiff at the beginning each time it is pushed, but once it is started, it slides easily the rest of the way.
I paid what I think is top dollar at $700 CDN. But in this case I think the gun was worth it. I would do it again in a flash.
