I started shooting the 44WCF during the early 90's for CAS/SASS. It just seemed a good way to go. I fell in love with this cartridge. Rifle & pistol. I reloaded for both.
Fast forward 20 years and I find I can't shoot competition anymore. But I still enjoy the 44-40.
I have several Colt SAA's and USFA's in this caliber but the one I enjoy most is the S&W M544. However, I think a 44-40 with open sights, 4 or 5" barrel would be just the ticket.
